Angela Stewart - Green & Gorgeous Domestic GoddessCLEARING OUR CLUTTER & MAKING CONNECTIONS

Written by Angela Stewart
Our Green & Gorgeous Domestic Goddess

Recently we booked a council pickup to collect excess waste and ‘rubbish’ from our little piece of paradise.  My husband, our three children and myself spent a very productive Sunday morning in the early spring sunshine transferring our accumulated junk to the nature strip ready for collection by the Council truck on the following Tuesday morning.

Mission Complete…. but as I cast my eyes over the huge collection of ‘rubbish’ on our nature strip, spreading nearly the width of our street frontage, the joy I had felt moments ago when I surveyed our clear yard and carport quickly disintegrated… I was guilty seeing all that junk being crushed in the back of the Council truck and being deposited straight into landfill!!!!  My green conscience was not resting easily and I was racked with guilt that we had taken the lazy option towards clearing our clutter.

However my dismay quickly turned to amazement as car after car slowed down and surveyed our collection.  Read the rest of this entry »

For Healthy Skin try Mineral Make-Up

September 8, 2008

Mineral Make UpBeing someone that rarely leaves the house without a sweep of Mascara and a few dots of Concealer, I’ve consistently looked for make up that is both safe and natural.

My sensitive skin means whatever I apply needs to be hypo-allergenic and free from chemical nasties, otherwise I’m red and blotchy within minutes. The best results I’ve had so far are with Mineral Make Up. This is delicately effective make up, comes in a huge range of colours and preparations with everything from liquid and powder foundations through to eyeshadow and blush.

What makes Mineral Make Up different to other foundations and powders is it’s ability to give great coverage without blocking pores, allowing your skin to breath. Most foundations create a film on your skin, whatever is trapped under that film stays there until you next cleanse your skin.

Underneath your make up may be inflammation in the form of acne or pimples, Eczema, Dermatitis or even Rosecea and all day long your film of foundation is holding in the heat of that inflammation and causing - more inflammation. It’s no mystery then why most make up only makes these conditions worse, leading you to apply more make up to cover blemishes. Mineral Make Up is non-eclusive, meaning it doesn’t form a film on the skin and wont lead to further inflammation.

Mineral Make Up is also recommended by plastic surgeons and other health professional for it’s ability to cover scarring. Read the rest of this entry »

Sydney International Beauty Expo

September 2, 2008

At the bottom of this post is my pick for the most hilarious Beauty Product every conceived. Scroll down to check it out…you won’t be sorry…

Part of me loves the glamour & gorgeousness that is the Sydney International Beauty Expo, every year I go and every year I see new brands, new ideas for marketing beauty products, there’s also unfortunately new ways to make us gorgeous ladies feel just a little insecure.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll be the first one in line preaching the virtues of a good cleanser & moisturiser, but I do have to draw the line in the sand well before the Cellulite reduction machines with little to no scientific evidence backing their claims. Beauty Therapists, feel free to correct me on this one via email or in comments…I’m happy to be proven wrong! Read the rest of this entry »

Chemical Free Cleaning

We’ve all experienced how tough it can be to clean our bathrooms without gassing ourselves. Anyone who uses traditional household cleaners knows you’ve got to wear gloves, open the windows and scrub whilst holding your breath. This experience should tell us a few things about traditional household cleaners, and not least that they’re having a negative impact on our health while also being damaging to the environment.

If you’re looking to make your household cleaning safer for yourself and the environment then there’s a few options available to you. The first step is to safely discard the chemical cocktail in your cleaning cupboard. Read the rest of this entry »
