Breakfast for busy women
August 20, 2007Some mornings all I get time for is black coffee - perhaps you’re the same? I find by
10am I’m starting to feel a bit delirious and start looking for either more coffee or something to give me that quick pick me up. Usually something questionable in it’s nutritional value like Banana Bread - I even tried to fool myself that I’m not having a piece of cake by putting butter on it - because it’s bread, right?
Anyway, I decided to come up with a better solution to my Banana Bread addiction before my jeans staged an intervention.
This is what I’ve replaced it with, it takes me 2 minutes to prepare, a few minutes to eat and puts me in a great mood to start the day because it’s colourful and I really feel like I’m doing something good for myself.
You’ll need - and there is enough for about 4 days once you open the tins
- Tin of crushed Pineapple - empty into airtight container
- Your favourite Yoghurt - Full Fat is usually more satisfying
- Tin of diced Peached - empty into airtight container
- Strawberries
- Granola/Muesli/Your favourite cereal
Each day all you need do is pop as much of each ingredient as you feel like into a bowl and munch. It’s yummy, crunchy and very satisfying. This breakfast will keep you going until lunch and contains more antioxidants and nutrition than a muesli bar, Goji Juice (check the latest research if you’re currently taking this - and not the research the person selling it to you hands out), white toast and definitely Banana Bread.

I’ve always been a coffee-for-breakfast type (and usually end up binging on sweet carbs in mid-morning, when the energy level starts to flag) so this is a very welcome tip. Love all the ingredients — it sounds just so easy, too, and every morning’s breakfast would be just a little bit different. Great idea!
I LOOOVE the sound of this recipe, Gorgeous Thing! I am going to try it. Your newsletter is great xx
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I could eat egg and bacon every morning (only if someone else was making it for me!!) but I do eat this 3 days a week, pancakes with ice-cream on Sundays and cereal (one healthy and one sugary one mixed together and you don’t feel like you being too healthy ) 3 days a week with tea or coffee
I find i keep my weight pretty even by eating every 3 hours, keep food at work or in you bag, packets of sultanas, fruit or muesli bars, a little container of mixed nut and they are usually salted and I run for about 20 mins twice a week, I also work full time
Eating little meals regularly keeps your metabolism even therefore helping to keep your weight even
Yay for breakfast!
