Instead of collecting those 4c Off Vouchers & only filling your car on a Tuesday, here’s 3 ways you can save more each week.
Saving money on petrol costs has the added benefit of reducing your Carbon Emissions (your Carbon Footprint) & decreasing the demand for Oil.
The demand for petrol is putting us at the mercy of the daily fluctuations of Oil prices. Leaving us little choice but to purchase our petrol from the same Company we purchase our Groceries, or we miss out on that $2.50 a week saving (and really ladies…that’s what we’re saving on average.) Then there’s filling up on Tuesday during the ‘normal price fluctuation cycle’ (if I had a dollar for everytime I’ve heard that on the News.) Now the Service Stations have gotten wise to that fact that we’re onto their cycle & they’ve changed it. It’s now Wednesday before the prices drop & we’ve all filled up on Tuesday at 5c per litre more.
So, we’re at the mercy Petrol Prices.
Or are we?
I think NOT & here’s 3 ways you can get back in control of what you pay for petrol. Read the rest of this entry »

Why does everything we do to make our hair look fabulous end up damaging it? Here are my top tips for getting naturally sexy hair that doesn’t involve anything you need a chemistry degree to understand.
- Banana - I know, weird, but it really works. Mix a ripe Banana with either 2 tablespoons of Coconut Milk or 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil. Use it like you would a conditioning mask, wrap your hair up in cling film and a hot towel for 15 minutes. Rinse and then shampoo and condition as usual.
- Mint tea - use as final rinse to give oily hair a nice shine.
- Avoid styling products that contain isopropyl or ethyl alcohol as both dry hair.
- Get your hair trimmed regularly - this may seem elementary but time flies and it’s easy to forget.
- If you have dry hair - wash it only 2 or 3 times per week with a mild SLS-free shampoo.
- Flaxseed Oil is brilliant to nourish hair from the inside out and can easily be added to your diet.
- Avocado makes a great moisturising mask - just mash it up and apply to your hair, cover in a shower cap and rinse it out 30 minutes later. Shampoo and condition as normal.
So there you have it - bring your hair back from the brink of destruction with these simple natural tips.
Now…where’s my straightening iron…

I know it’s so tempting to head straight for the painkillers when you get a headache. We’re all busy and need to get back to feeling good as quickly as possible. This headache remedy takes 10 minutes which is less time than the average painkiller takes so what have you got to lose.
The most common types of headaches are tension headaches - that feeling that you’re wearing a tight hat with tenderness at the base of the skull. You feel like you’re squinting to see the computer screen and everyone and everything is bothering you.

Gorgeous Things loves ‘bod’ skin care - I mentioned last month that we would be deciding on an all Aussie, all natural face & body range very soon. The bonus is that ‘bod’ also create a fabulous range of products for bubs, so if you have a baby or young children, while you’re looking after your own skin you can also help treat and prevent problems with theirs.
If you’re a member of the Gorgeous Things mailing list we’ll be doing a product test on some of the ‘bod’ skin care with samples being sent very soon. If you’d like to be involved - you can sign up now

Sodium Laurel Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate are petrochemical surfactants, making them non-renewable resources adding to your carbon footprint.
- Plant-based surfactants are made from renewable resources.
- Products containing SLS can be irritating and drying to your skin and scalp.
- SLS-free products can often reduce the need to apply a moisturiser to your body as you’re not drying you skin with harsh detergents in the first place - saving you time and money.
- SLS is used in products because it’s cheap - not because it’s the best cleanser - demand quality and value for your hard earned money!
- Sensitive and irritable skin can be soothed by using plant-based cleansers. Helping to reduce outbreaks of eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
- The more of us that use these products on a regular basis means that more companies will see the need to produce products without SLS and SLES - it’s simple supply and demand.
