There hasn’t been a more glorious Sunday in
Sydney in months, perfect for a trip to Victoria Park in Camperdown for the Live Green Festival.
Sitting on the grass in the sun with thousands of other Sydneysiders, with great Live Music and an almost Summery vibe in the air - the City of Sydney deserves a mountain of praise for putting together such a fabulous event.
Live Green was a celebration of all things Sustainable, Recyclable & Organic. With Seminars on Ethical Investing, Sustainable Seafood and how being Green is actually Cheaper than our outmoded wasteful way of living. It’s like something Sophie Ulliano from Gorgeous Green said to me recently, Green is just good old fashioned common sense. It’s not a new concept (although we do have many new ways to be Green) it’s almost like moving forward to the past. Read the rest of this entry »

If you loved ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ or you’re a fan of Linda LaPlante or Jilly Cooper or you’re
the kind of gal who likes to kick back on a Saturday afternoon with a pre-dinner Long Island Iced Tea (or is that just me?) and a stack of trashy mags then this is the book for you!
Guilty Pleasures by Tasmina Perry is set in the fashion world between London, Paris and New York (is there a better combination) and is the story of a family whose members will stop at nothing to get their hands on the family fortune. The Daily Mirror in the UK cheekily described Guilty Pleasures as a ‘Bonkbuster’ and I have to agree - it’s peppered with titillating scenes that seem completely plausible and appropriate, considering the characters and setting.
Underneath it’s external layer of glamour, fashion, sex and Machiavellian plotting - Guilty Pleasures has well developed characters that although their lifestyles are incomprehensible, their more human characteristics make you care about their fate. I even found myself cheering for Cassandra, the tough but flawed fashion magazine editor who believes with her style and connections, she’s the rightful heir to the family Luxury Goods business - rather than her ‘off the rack’ Management Consultant cousin Emma.
Guilty Pleasures is a fun, easy read that’s perfect for your next weekend away, international flight or a week of escapism on the train while you commute. Wherever you read it though, just remember if there’s people near by - they may be wondering what you’re grinning about. Guilty Pleasures by Tasmina Perry is the most appropriately named book this year.
Available from all good bookstores from July 1st.
Guilty Pleasures by Tasmina Perry RRP $32.99 is published by HarperCollins Publishers

Instead of collecting those 4c Off Vouchers & only filling your car on a Tuesday, here’s 3 ways you can save more each week.
Saving money on petrol costs has the added benefit of reducing your Carbon Emissions (your Carbon Footprint) & decreasing the demand for Oil.
The demand for petrol is putting us at the mercy of the daily fluctuations of Oil prices. Leaving us little choice but to purchase our petrol from the same Company we purchase our Groceries, or we miss out on that $2.50 a week saving (and really ladies…that’s what we’re saving on average.) Then there’s filling up on Tuesday during the ‘normal price fluctuation cycle’ (if I had a dollar for everytime I’ve heard that on the News.) Now the Service Stations have gotten wise to that fact that we’re onto their cycle & they’ve changed it. It’s now Wednesday before the prices drop & we’ve all filled up on Tuesday at 5c per litre more.
So, we’re at the mercy Petrol Prices.
Or are we?
I think NOT & here’s 3 ways you can get back in control of what you pay for petrol. Read the rest of this entry »
