Quick natural headache cure

September 14, 2007

Cure headaches naturallyI know it’s so tempting to head straight for the painkillers when you get a headache. We’re all busy and need to get back to feeling good as quickly as possible. This headache remedy takes 10 minutes which is less time than the average painkiller takes so what have you got to lose.

The most common types of headaches are tension headaches - that feeling that you’re wearing a tight hat with tenderness at the base of the skull. You feel like you’re squinting to see the computer screen and everyone and everything is bothering you.

Here’s what to do.

Drink a glass of water and then lie down for 10 minutes with face cloth that’s been swished in cold water with a few drops of Peppermint Oil across your forehead. If you don’t have the Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil or just the cold cloth will do.

This works in 2 ways:

  1. Many headaches are caused by dehydration and are your body’s cry for water.
  2. The cool face cloth will act as an anti-inflammatory which is of course what Ibuprofen is anyway.

It’s increasingly worrisome that pharmaceutical companies keep coming up with ‘purse packs’ of painkillers and advertising them as something to ‘never be without’ - it’s not sending a great message. Try this natural headache remedy next time - you’ll be surprised with the results.

  1. Matt Emery Said,

Excellent tip. I use to get headaches periodically, but since increasing my awareness of dehydration they have diminished almost completely.

But, of course, the Pharma Corps don’t want us to know that.

Thanks Matt. Then there’s the other reason to stay hydrated - we often mistake dehydration for hunger and eat when we should be drinking.

What a great tip! I used to think my headaches were form tension and maybe also eye strain, but now ‘m thinking that dehydration may very well be at fault. Peppermint or lavender oil, you say? I must try this!
