One of my favourite blogs ‘so you wannabee a domestik goddess’ posted this fabulous satirical commercial for Mom Jeans by the Saturday Night Live crew and I just had to share it because it made me laugh so much! Y’know, those tragic high waisted jeans (gasp, they seem to be back in fashion too!) that make your butt look huge. Hello, it’s 1983 calling – they want their jeans back.

    Thanks, LA! In the world of fashion, there are two things that terrify me above all others: (1) those sprayed-on high-waisted jeans that make anyone other than a cadaverous heroin addict (or a runway model) look like a lumpy sausage, and (2) the possibility of looking in the mirror one day to find myself in a pair of “Mom Jeans”!! Give me a soft old pair of basic Levi’s, and I’m a happy camper… :)

    Oh yeah, shopping for jeans can never be about the latest fashion for me either – having a bum that’s more Jennifer Lopez than Kate Moss – it’s low rise, boot cut, dark denim all the way for me :)

    My mother hasn’t progressed to “Mom Jeans” – she’s still cruising around at 62 in Birkenstocks and boot cuts – so there is hope for all of us!
